Dharavi is a locality in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, considered to be one of Asia's largest slums. It has an area of over 2.1 square kilometres and a population of about 700,000. Also it is one of the most densely populated areas in the world.
In the world's largest slums, the fight against the Coronavirus has turned into a struggle to survive. Before COVID-19 struck, their life's were limited and small, but it was good. India's lockdown has caused unemployment on a massive scale, with more than 100 million people losing thier jobs.
They are now trying their best they can - big families living in single rooms - but a month after the nationwide lockdown, they have run out of money. With no food to eat & maintaining social distancing being a biggest problem.
During the lockdown, while the entire nation was home surrounded by the comfort of their families, our kitchens at Ratna Nidhi in partnership with DP's restaurant in Matunga were providing Hot Nutritious Khichdi everyday, FREE OF COST, to these daily wage earners in Dharavi.
Till date more that 53,579 Hot Khichdi Packets have been distributed to these Daily wage earners.
