Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust  institutied an award named MG Mehta Human Spirit Award in memory of its Founder.

This award will be given to a suitable disabled person who has achieved something in his/ her life showing indomitable spirit and courage and tenacity in spite of the difficulties.

It is instituted to honour individuals who have proved that their disability is not a barrier in achieving their dreams, dreams that sometimes even normal human beings cannot achieve.

It will be given every year on 3rd December, it being World Disability Day. It comprises of a cash award and a manpatra to the individual.

For this year we presented it to Padma Shri awardee of 2015, Ms. Arunima Sinha who in spite of being an amputee, wearing an artificial leg, climbed the Mount Everest in 2013, the first Indian lady to have achieved this remarkable feat.

We hope that the award encourages more and more disabled people to shatter all barriers induced by disability and to take a step towards greatness.
