About SPRJK (Shri Pandit Ratnachandraji Jain Kanyashala Trust) School

The School provides free/subsidised education from Play-school to Post-graduate college to more than 7000 underprivileged girls. To motivate the parents to send their girls to school, the school provides free education, free books, free uniform, free shoes, free school bag, free computer training, free sports coaching and free bus service. The teachers make regular visits to the houses, if a girl child does not attend school. Individual attention is paid to each girl child.

The school is based in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. The girls are usually from the nearby slum areas. The children are usually migrant communities, daily wage earners. Most of the parents do not understand the importance of educating the girl child. Poverty, illiteracy and superstition especially related to girls is rampant. The parents do not understand the importance of education, especially the girls because they would one day be married off. Hence, the importance of free education for girl children in a nearby area is of prime importance in this area.
