An Initiative to Spread awareness about Orthopedic Disability through a Unique Activity

Ride Overview

Cyclothon 2024 is an initiative to spread awareness about orthopedic disability through a unique activity. Stefan Voormans, an inspiration for many physically disabled individuals, will be cycling from Wai (Maharashtra) to IMC (Mumbai) covering a distance of about 510 kms over a span of 5 days. This amazing event is scheduled to take place from 23rd January to 27th January, 2024.
 
MEET OUR LEAD CYCLIST - STEFAN VOORMANS 
 
Born on 7th November 1970 in Nettetal, Germany, Stefan met with an accident on 10th December 1987, with a scooter. He became paralyzed because of the accident. Till date, Stefan has spent over three years in hospitals undergoing 64 surgical operations.
 
Since 2002, he started hand cycling and took part in many races around the world – most of them in marathon distances of 42 kms. He won the German Championship in Para triathlon in 2010, stood 7th at the New York Marathon in 2006 and came 4th twice at Beirut Marathon in 2009 & 2010. Since 2005, he has also been the Executive Director of Somedi Nettetal, a German NGO.

KEY INFORMATION

  • Online Registration only.
  • Last date of registration is January 26, 2024.
  • You can join the ride for specific route.
  • Registration Fees are same for entire ride or any part thereof.
  • On successful registration you will receive a confirmation email having all information in it.
  • In case of any errors in the application form, the applicant will need to fill in the form and register again.
  • Any disease or illness should also be disclosed at the time of registration.
  • Certificate, Medals will be given to all Riders after completing the Ride.
  • No Insurance, Medical or otherwise will be provided by the organizers.
  • There will be no baggage counter.
  • Puncture fixing is not under our support.  
  • Stay, Lunch and Dinner will be individuals responsibility.

Note - Check hotel suggestions for the bookings. 

  • There is no boundary for cycle type; all types of cycles are allowed.
  • All riders will have to bring their own bicycle, support equipment, water bottles and ride essentials.  
  • Helmet and knee guard is compulsory. Rider can be asked to leave from the ride and disqualified..
  • Participants must check the cycle and cycle parts (like brakes, pedal, air pressure etc.) before the event.  
  • Organizers will not provide cycles. Even in case of emergency. 
  • There are No baggage counters.
  • Puncture fixing is not under our support.
  • The participants are required to report 60 minutes before the ride start time. The time for flag off as mentioned in routes and maps section (Flag off timings different at locations)  
  • Event photographers will click your photos thus do not pose or do any kind of stunts for the photos.
  • Though the route has been carefully selected to avoid traffic, watch-out for traffic and any obstacles on the route. Slow down or stop if necessary. SAFETY FIRST! Cycling speed later!!
  • Eat fruits, sleep well & Hydrate well the day before cycling.
  • Participants suffering from serious physical and/or health problems may not be permitted to participate.
  • No insurance, medical or otherwise will be provided by the organizers to the participants.
  • Any kind of misbehaviour with any of the participants, organisers or management team will lead to disqualification from the ride.
  • There shall be no support/service or personal vehicle during the ride
  • On ride day, there will be refreshment for all riders like, juices, sprouts, fruits, drinks, water etc
  • After the ride, every rider will receive a Finisher's Cetificate, Medal.

By registering for Cyclothon 2024 organised by Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust and/or others you understand and agree that:

  1. This is not a race but a cause awareness ride.
  2. You understand the risk of participating on a course with vehicular traffic, even if the course may be regulated/policed, including health, injuries, etc.
  3. Participant is trained in cycling and having an appropriate level of fitness to participate in such a physically demanding event.
  4. The organiser reserves the right to cancel the event in whole or in part without notice, for any reason. In such cases a refund or partial refund may be given at the organiser’s discretion, but is not guaranteed.
  5. Locations and Timings subject to change at the discretion of the organizer and will be updated from time to time.
  6. Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust  and the event organisers will not be liable for loss, damage and expenses of any sort arising by reason of the Terms of Conditions and of participant’s breach of the above conditions, unauthorised acts or otherwise. Any breach of these conditions or failure by participant to obey the lawful directions of RNCT or the event instructors hereby entitles RNCT or the event organisers to terminate participant’s participation in an event forthwith without any refund of fees or any compensation of any sort and to cease and remove from participation automatically.
  7. Participant will carry and provide hard copy of identification and age proof prior to the event or flag off, if and when asked by organizer or its representatives.
  8. There is no boundary for cycle type; all types of cycles are allowed.
  9. The participants are required to report 60 Mins before the flag off time. The time for flag off will vary from 6.30 A.M. to 8.30 A.M.
  10. Participant must check the cycle, cycle parts and all safety checks as required (like brakes, pedal, air pressure etc.) before the event. In case of any safety concerns participant should withdraw from the ride until such issue is resolved.
  11. No cycles will be provided by the organizers to any of the participant under any circumstances.
  12. Participant found riding his/her cycle without the helmet at any time during the ride may be asked to withdraw from further participation.
  13. SMILE at our photographers / videographers who will be capturing your picture while cycling. Do not risk by posing with your hands off the handle or stunts.
  14. Though the route has been carefully selected to avoid traffic, watch-out for traffic and any obstacles on the route. Slow down or stop if necessary. SAFETY FIRST! Cycling speed later!!

  16. Participants suffering from serious physical and/or health problems may not be permitted to participate.
  17. No insurance, medical or otherwise will be provided by the organizers to the participants.

Any kind of misbehavior with any of the participants, organizers or its representatives during the ride is not acceptable, if noticed by the event management team or organizers or if brought to notice by any other participant shall lead to immediate disqualification and removal from further participationThis will also apply to any kind of unsafe riding by any participant.
  19. All riders will have to bring their own bicycle, support equipment, water bottles and ride essentials.
  20. There shall be no support/service or personal vehicle during the race.
  21. On ride day, there will be refreshment for all riders which will include items like, juices, sprouts, fruits, drinks, water etc.
  22. After ride, every rider will receive Finisher’s Certificate, Medal. Only for participants registered by December 27, 2023. Certificate and Medals to other participants will be couriered within 60 days after the event, courier charges will be paid by such participants.
  23. There are No baggage counters. One small size bag per participant may be loaded in a tempo at their own risk and must have owner tag on the same. This is applicable for participation for multiple days.
  24. Puncture fixing is not under our support.
  25. Participant’s Parents ,Guardian and family understand and agree to abide by the instructions and Terms and conditions provided by the organizers and any updates from time to time in the best interest of your health and event safety.
  26. For student registrations the student ID will be required for verification.

By registering to take part in Cyclothon 2024 organised by Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust and / or others (hereafter also referred to as, RNCT and / or organiser), you confirm that:

  1. You are of legal consenting adult age, as per Indian laws, or you have parental or guardian consent.
  2. Your participation in the event is like all sports, has a risk of physical injury and you fully accept responsibility for all such risks as a condition of participation.
  3. You understand and accept that RNCT and the event organizers / owners,  do not accept any liability of any sort for bodily injury, illness or death sustained to or by you or loss or damage to any of your possessions or goods (eg: bicycle, sports equipment, money, vehicles, jewellery, clothing, cameras etc) whatsoever and howsoever their loss or damage is caused.
  4. Participant and their legal representatives, waive all claims of whatsoever nature against any and all Sponsors of the event, The State of Maharashtra, all political entities, authorities and officials, all contractors working on or near the course, all Committee persons, officials and volunteers, Event Organizer and all other persons and entities associated with the event and the owner, employees, agents and representatives of all or any of the aforementioned including, but not limited to, any claims that might result from participant participating in the event and whether on account of illness, injury, death or otherwise.
  5. If participant is injured or taken ill or otherwise suffer/s any detriment whatsoever, participant’s Parents or guardian hereby irrevocably authorize the event officials and organizers to, at your risk and cost, transport participant to a medical facility and/or to administer emergency medical treatment and participant waive/s all claims that might result from such transport and/or treatment or delay or deficiency therein. Participant’s Parents, guardian or immediate family shall pay or reimburse to Organizing committee participant’s medical and emergency expenses and authorizes Event Organizer to incur the same on their behalf.
  6. In case of any illness or injury caused to any participant or death suffered by due to any medical reasons or medical condition during the ride or at any time thereafter as a result of the event, regardless or not whether such medical reasons or condition shall have been pre-existing conditions known by you and further regardless of whether participant shall have disclosed, at any point in time, the existence of such reason or condition to any person, none of the sponsors of the event or any political entity or authorities and officials or all contractor working on or near the course, or any of the organizing Committee persons, officials or volunteers or Event Organizer or any persons or entities associated with the event or the owner, employees, agents or representatives of all or any of the aforementioned shall be held liable by participant and his/her representatives agree that entrance fee and any sponsor pledge money collected is nonrefundable.
  7. Each participant also consents to the recording of his/her voice, image and likeness captured by any means including cameras/telephones/mobile devices while present in, at or about the event and the transmission of these images/voices in perpetuity by the organizer and its representatives / agents, Sponsors or Donors free of charge, by any means and waives all moral and legal rights in and to any recordings of sound or video made or images taken during the entire 8 day duration of the event and its preparations / planning.
  8. The organiser reserves the right to cancel the event in whole or in part without notice, for any reason. In such cases a refund or partial refund may be given at the organiser’s discretion, but is not guaranteed.
  9. Participant and his/her representatives understand, agree and irrevocably permit Event Organizer to share the information provided in the application, with all/any entities associated with the Event, at its own discretion.
  10. You have read and understand the Terms and Conditions (as may be updated from time to time) and will abide by them fully.

I, hereby agree to indemnify Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust  and the event organisers for any and all the claims, loss and expenses of any sort arising by reason of the Terms of Conditions and of my breach of the above conditions, unauthorised acts or otherwise. Any breach of these conditions or failure by me to obey the lawful directions of RNCT or the event instructors hereby entitles RNCT or the event organisers to terminate my participation in the event forthwith without any refund of fees or any compensation of any sort and to disqualify me automatically.

  • Yes, it is necessary to register. Registration can be done online only.

  • Registration Fees for the entire Cyclothone remains the same, ie; whether a cyclists takes the entire route from Kolhapur to Mumbai or from any other point enroute.
  • In case of any errors in the application form, the applicant will need to fill in another form and register again.
